These exercises reuse only Western methods already verified in the published Academy lessons. No new forecasting rule is introduced.
Calculate the Moon–Mars square orb
Moon = 23.29° Cancer (113.29° ecliptic longitude), Mars = 24.37° Aries (24.37°). Find the shortest separation, compare it with the 90° square target, then choose the AstroOne classification.
Reveal reasoning
- 1. Calculate / check first
Calculate the geometry first: Moon 113.29° minus Mars 24.37° gives a shortest separation of 88.92°. That is 1.08° away from the 90° square target.
- 2. What matters
Then inspect AstroOne’s configured orb. A square normally allows 6°, and the Sun/Moon allowance adds 1°, so this Moon aspect has a 7° limit.
- 3. How to combine it
Because 1.08° is well inside 7°, classify the geometry as a square. Stop there for the calculation step; “square” does not by itself mean a bad event.
Shortest separation = 113.29 − 24.37 = 88.92°. The distance from the 90° square target is 1.08°. Because the Moon is involved, the 7° square limit applies, so this is a square.
Combine placement + aspect into one reading
Choose the strongest methodology-based synthesis for Mars in Aries H10 + Moon in Cancer H1 + Moon square Mars (orb 1.085°).
Reveal reasoning
- 1. Calculate / check first
Start from the engine facts already supplied: Mars in Aries H10, Moon in Cancer H1, and Moon square Mars with a 1.085° orb. No new placement should be invented.
- 2. What matters
Inspect each layer for its role: Mars = drive/assertion, Aries = direct initiation, H10 = public/work responsibility, Moon = instinctive response, H1 = first response/self, square = friction or adjustment.
- 3. How to combine it
Combine rather than stack keywords: direct initiative in work/public settings may rub against fast emotional reactions. Keep it as a conditional pattern hypothesis, not “a workplace fight will happen.”
There may be a strong urge to initiate directly in public or work contexts, while fast emotional responses can create friction with action. That is a pattern hypothesis, not a prediction of a workplace fight.
Read a retrograde three-pass transit without overpredicting
Transiting Mercury trine natal Sun is exact three times: 24 Jun, 5 Jul (retrograde), and 6 Aug 2026. Choose the best synthesis.
Reveal reasoning
- 1. Calculate / check first
Verify that all three roots are the same Mercury-to-natal-Sun trine, and that the middle pass occurs while Mercury is retrograde. That is what makes this a genuine multi-pass cycle.
- 2. What matters
What matters is the timing structure: direct → retrograde → direct. Pass count is not event count, and the prompt does not supply natal house or wider context.
- 3. How to combine it
Synthesize it as a theme that may be introduced, revisited and approached again. Keep the meaning general until house/context evidence is added, and never turn three exact passes into three guaranteed events.
Treat it as a timing pattern in which a Mercury–Sun theme may be introduced, revisited during the retrograde pass, and approached again on the later direct pass. It does not mean three guaranteed events.
