Five Elements in the supported scope
Learn AstroOne’s supported Chinese Zodiac scope, with calculation boundaries kept separate from interpretation.
Treat 五行 as a five-phase relationship system, not merely five substances
Traditional sources treat Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water through patterned relationships such as generation and control. AstroOne stores both a branch element and a birth-year element and can classify their relation as same, generating or controlling for compatibility scoring.
How AstroOne derives the year element
The current year-animal services map the resolved Chinese year through a 10-year stem rhythm to Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water. For example, 2025 maps to Wood and 2026 to Fire. This is a compact year-element layer, not a full analysis of the Heavenly Stem name and polarity.
“Generating” does not mean guaranteed support
Five-Phase relations are a symbolic relational model. AstroOne combines element relationships with branch tags and product temperament dimensions. One element relationship does not decide compatibility by itself.
A branch element is not hidden-stem analysis
The simple current engine uses a primary branch-element label. It does not calculate BaZi hidden stems, seasonal strength or full elemental balance, so Academy does not present this as a complete “element balance” analysis.
Reading a Wood-Tiger / Fire-Horse element layer
- Input
Example profile A: Tiger branch = Wood · Example profile B: Horse branch = Fire
- Calculation
In the engine’s Five-Phase map, Wood generates Fire, so the branch-element relation is classified as generating.
- Factors to inspect
Also inspect the branch relationship, polarity and product metrics rather than stopping at the element relation.
- Reasoning
A generating relation may support a symbolic reading of flow or support, but it does not prove that A will always be good for B.
- Synthesis
In AstroOne synthesis, the element relation remains one factor alongside branch signals and other dimensions.
Five Elements are an explanatory layer, not a single switch that decides a relationship outcome.
