The card draw is a separate step in each tool flow
When a new public reading is created, the Web controller selects an index with `random_int(0, cardCount-1)`. Daily, Love, Career, Money and Yes/No all use cardCount = 22. Saved reading state records the draw and card_key, and reconstruction rejects a mismatched card identity.
Each tool adds a different interpretive layer
Daily = card theme + optional daily focus + practical check-in/review. Love = canonical card + relationship status. Career = canonical card + work situation. Money = canonical card + financial situation. Yes/No = its own 22-card verdict catalog + question focus + strength/condition/risk/action.
The Yes/No catalog order is not the same as the Daily canonical order, so a draw index must not be taught as a Major Arcana number. The persisted card_key is the identity contract.
Do not turn Yes/No into a binary fate machine
AstroOne Yes/No currently has 15 cards on the yes side and 7 on the no side, but answer keys include yes, likely_yes, yes_with_action, conditional, yes_slowly, not_yet, unclear and no_for_now. Strength also ranges from very_clear to strong_warning.
That is why “Yes card = do it” is too crude. Read the condition, risk, action and timing tone before using the answer.
A random draw does not establish causation
Cryptographically secure random selection can make the card choice an unbiased draw, but it does not establish that the card causes an external event or measures a hidden future fact. Academy keeps random selection separate from symbolic interpretation.
Reading a Yes/No draw state
- Input
Fictional question = “Should I continue with this project?”; selected draw index = 9.
- Calculation
Current Yes/No catalog maps index 9 → The Magician; answer_key = yes_with_action; primary_side = yes; strength = clear; focus = continuation.
- Factors to inspect
Inspect Magician identity, continuation focus, current resources, a missing fact and the smallest test.
- Reasoning
Treat “yes with action” as a conditional decision frame, not a guarantee, and connect the agency/resource theme to project evidence.
- Synthesis
Combine answer + strength + card identity + question focus + practical test before forming the final interpretation.
Interpretation: “The reading leans toward continuing, but use the skills and resources already available for one low-risk, measurable test. Review the result before increasing commitment.”
