The role of the birth weekday
Learn the Myanmar Astrology / Mahabote methods AstroOne actually uses, with extra care where traditional schools differ.
Mahabote uses a seven-day weekday code
AstroOne’s Mahabote formula uses a seven-day code: Saturday=0, Sunday=1, Monday=2, Tuesday=3, Wednesday=4, Thursday=5, Friday=6.
The Wednesday/Rahu split is supplementary in AstroOne
For a Wednesday birth with an exact time, the current service labels before 12:00 as wednesday_am and 12:00 onward as rahu_wednesday_pm. The Mahabote arithmetic still uses Wednesday code 4.
Do not turn the Rahu split into a universal rule
Historical and modern Mahabote references show a half-day Rahu convention for Wednesday in some lineages. That does not establish that every teacher uses exactly the same noon rule, so the course labels this as AstroOne’s method rather than a universal law.
If birth time is unknown, do not guess the split
If a Wednesday birth has no exact time, the current engine uses wednesday_unsplit. Neither an AI nor a reader should invent missing birth-time information.
Wednesday 13:30 example
- Input
Fictional birth: 1995-07-12, 13:30 local time.
- Calculation
The engine returns Wednesday, Mahabote weekday code 4 and supplementary label rahu_wednesday_pm. With Myanmar year 1357, the Mahabote formula gives index 2 = Yaza.
- Factors to inspect
Inspect both the weekday code and the supplementary Rahu label, while keeping their functions distinct.
- Reasoning
The 13:30 time selects the PM supplementary label, but the Mahabote subtraction still uses 4.
- Synthesis
Therefore the Rahu label and the Mahabote weekday arithmetic should not be collapsed into one thing.
Interpretation: in AstroOne, this example has Yaza as its Mahabote placement, while Rahu PM is supplementary birth-weekday context.
