Scope limits & quick reference

Learn AstroOne’s supported Chinese Zodiac scope, with calculation boundaries kept separate from interpretation.

Calculation fact

Quick reference: what the current engine actually provides

  • Chinese New Year boundary-resolved year (verified table scope: 1900–2100 in the compatibility service)
  • 12-year animal + Earthly Branch + polarity + primary branch element
  • Birth-year element from the current 10-year stem-rhythm mapping
  • Compatibility: selected branch tags + Five-Phase relation + deterministic product temperament dimensions
Limitation

What the current simple Chinese Zodiac does not calculate

  • Full Four Pillars / BaZi chart
  • Month, day and hour pillars in the simple year-animal product
  • Day Master, Ten Gods, hidden stems, luck pillars or full seasonal-strength analysis
  • Guaranteed event prediction from one animal/year relation
School-specific

Boundary and relationship vocabulary still have school/context choices

Official-calendar Chinese New Year and Lìchūn practice can differ. Treating two members of a 三合 group as a supportive pair is also not the same as a complete three-branch formation. Use rules with their source context visible.

Modern practice

Safe reading checklist

  • 1. Resolve the calendar boundary before assigning the animal
  • 2. Keep calculated output separate from interpretation
  • 3. Separate traditional tags from AstroOne product labels
  • 4. Do not turn one signal into a whole verdict
  • 5. Keep the non-BaZi scope visible
Worked example

Quick-reference self-check

  1. Input

Question: “I was born 5 February 1997. Am I automatically an Ox because the Gregorian year is 1997?”

  2. Calculation

No shortcut. First look up the 1997 Chinese New Year boundary in AstroOne’s verified table, then resolve the Chinese year and only then map the animal.

  3. Factors to inspect

Boundary date, resolved Chinese year, animal/branch and year element. If interpreting relationships, add only the relation categories actually needed.

  4. Reasoning

The mistake to avoid is assigning an animal from the Gregorian year number before checking the calendar boundary.

  5. Synthesis

After the animal is resolved, interpretation may discuss symbolic tendencies or relationships, but it must retain the year-animal scope and uncertainty.

Interpretation

A reliable Chinese Zodiac reading begins by getting the calendar year right; it does not begin with a personality paragraph.
